Blake Carlton Jones, Ph.D.

Blake has a background in veterinary medicine, conservation biology, aviculture, and field ecology. He earned his doctorate in biology studying the endocrine control of learning and memory and antipredator behavior in Florida scrub-jays (Aphelocoma coerulescens) in Stephan Schoech's lab at the University of Memphis. As a Postdoctoral Scholar at Florida State Unviersity, Blake currently studies proximate mechanism that influence growth, development, and cooperative behavior in the lance-tailed manakin (Chiroxiphia lanceolata) in the lab of Emily DuVal.

Miranda Hall

Miranda is excited to be involved in a meta-analysis of the dynamics of the hormonal stress-response in nestlings. She is a high school senior enrolled in college courses and is interested in pursuing a degree in public relations. Miranda is a gifted orator, as she has won numerous awards as a competitive public speaker and debater. While her passion is communications, she has found her foray into scientific research fascinating and relaxing.

Stephen Jones, B.S.

Stephen earned his B.S. in Biology from Colorado State University and is currently working on his Computer Science degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He is using meta-analytic approaches to understand how individuals use social information to make mate choice decisions. Stephen is an avid sportsman who lives in Germany with his wife and 2 year-old daughter, and he loves streusel.

Leslie Nguyen, B.S.

As an undergraduate at Florida State University, Leslie helped investigate how endogenous glucocorticoids influence growth in lance-tailed manakins (Chiroxiphia lanceolata). She also helped to develop methods for measuring telomere length in the manakins to study how telomere dynamics influence life-history trajectories. Leslie is currently working toward her M.D. at the Florida State University College of Medicine.

George Torres, B.S.

George recently graduated from Florida State University. During his time as in undergraduate, he helped review behavior data to quantify maternal care at the nest and neophobia of lance-tailed manakins (Chiroxiphia lanceolata). George will attend school in the fall to become a Physician's Assistant.
